Volunteering
Parent Classroom Volunteer Guide
We are so excited to welcome you into our classrooms! Parent volunteers bring energy, care, and invaluable support to our students and teachers at Canyon Creek Elementary. To ensure our campus remains safe, runs smoothly, and is fun for everyone, here is what you need to know about serving as a classroom volunteer.
Getting Started: Quick & Easy Check-In
Parent classroom helpers fall under Category 1: Single-Event/Short-Term Volunteers. Please communicate with your child’s teacher to see if they are looking for classroom volunteers. Once you have confirmed with your teacher, please follow the check-in process below:
1. Check In at the Front Office
  • Every time you arrive to volunteer, stop by the office and sign the official volunteer sheet.
2. Scan Your ID
  • Bring a valid driver’s license or state-issued ID. We will run a quick automated check through our visitor management system to help keep our campus secure.
3. Wear Your Badge
  • Wear your site-issued volunteer ID badge so our staff and students know that you are an approved guest.
4. Complete the Volunteer Guidelines Form
  • Complete a one-time volunteer guidelines form. This form reviews the rules and expectations for serving as a classroom or school volunteer.
What to Expect in the Classroom
1. Partnering with Teachers
You will always work alongside a certified teacher or staff member. You are there to support the classroom and teacher, so you will never be left alone or unsupervised with students.
2. How You’ll Help
From preparing hands-on art projects and assisting with reading groups to helping set up fun classroom events, your extra set of hands can make a huge difference!
3. A Quick Note on Volunteer Roles
To respect student privacy and district guidelines, volunteers do not grade assignments, manage student discipline, or handle confidential student information.
Thank you for giving your time and helping make Canyon Creek Elementary a wonderful place to learn!

School Reminders

Morning Arrival
Our main campus opens at 7:45 a.m., which is when teacher supervision begins. This helps ensure the safety and well-being of all students.
If your child participates in our optional school breakfast beginning at 7:30 a.m. or is dropped off before 7:45 a.m., they will be escorted to the MPR (Multi-Purpose Room) until supervision begins.
School starts promptly at 8:00 a.m. For student safety, please make sure you are off the main campus by the 8:00 a.m. start time. Campus gates will be locked at 8:00 a.m.
If your child arrives after 8:00 a.m., please have them check in through the Front Office.
Drop-Off & Pick-Up Reminders
To help keep traffic moving safely and efficiently, please pull all the way forward in the designated drop-off and pick-up lanes. This allows us to keep traffic flowing smoothly and helps everyone get where they need to go as quickly and safely as possible.
  • TK & Kindergarten: Drop-off and pick-up will take place on Cardinal Blvd.
  • Grades 1–6: Main drop-off and pick-up will take place in the main parking lot off Monterey Blvd.
Thank you for your patience, cooperation, and partnership in helping us keep arrival and dismissal safe and efficient for all of our Canyon Creek families!
